Our school has a proud tradition of academic excellence. Our commitment to the achievement of educational excellence is demonstrated by the provision of a wide range of programs and our dedication to teaching and learning to cater for the individual learning needs of students.
Our students thrive in the nurturing and safe learning environment created by a dedicated team of highly trained teaching professionals and support staff. Student independence, responsibility, resilience and self-confidence are fostered through specifically targeted initiatives in academic, cultural and sporting areas. A spirit of inclusion, caring for others and safety is encouraged throughout the school.
We are proud of our Gifted Unit, which has been successfully operating for over 25 years and is regarded as an innovative and inspiring example of best practice in the education of gifted students. The same high quality teaching policies and practices applied in our Gifted Unit are clearly evident in all mainstream classes, as evidenced by the consistently high NAPLAN results recorded in our school.
Strong partnerships with the community are valued at St Ives North. We value the skills, expertise and knowledge our students bring to the school from their home environment. Parents are welcome in our school as together we work in partnership to achieve the best for our students. The P&C encourage active parent participation in a wide variety of activities and initiatives to support the school.
Technology is integrated seamlessly as a tool to assist learning in all classrooms. All grades participate in our Digital Fluencies program which includes coding classes. All grades have access to shared iPad labs and our senior students participate in a 1:1 BYOD iPad program. All of our classrooms feature interactive whiteboards or touch panels.
Our students have over 45 extra curricular activities to chose from including sports, dance, languages, a comprehensive band program, string orchestras, chess, choir, debating and Tournament of the Minds.
We are proud of our successful school wellbeing focus. Our programs operate under the umbrella of the Positive Behaviour Engaging Students (PBEL) program which is underpinned by the values of respect, responsibility and resilience. PBEL is a school wide program that is all about creating a positive and encouraging learning environment where children know what is expected of them. Our school provides a wide range of programs to support PBEL including Playmates, Kindergarten Buddy Programs, a student leadership team and Life Education.
