Stories and highlights
There’s always something to celebrate at our school! Throughout the year, we come together to embrace a vibrant array of events and achievements that showcase the talents, passions, and spirit of our students and community. From exhilarating onsite activities to memorable offsite experiences, each moment adds to the rich tapestry of our school life.
Onsite, our school has hosted Education Weeks, Harmony Days, Book Week Celebrations, 100 Days of Kindergarten to name a few, where students have dazzled audiences with their creativity and energy, celebrating cultural diversity and artistic expression. During Book Week, our library buzzes with excitement as students dive into stories, participate in themed dress-ups, author visits, and engaging reading challenges that inspire a lifelong love of literature.
Offsite, our sports events have brought out the best in our athletes, with inter-school competitions and school carnivals fostering teamwork, resilience, and school pride. Our students have represented the school with distinction at regional and state-level sporting tournaments, showcasing their skills and sportsmanship. Many have participated in external competitions and festivals, bringing home awards and unforgettable memories. Excursions linked to History and Geography have provided enriching opportunities to explore local heritage sites, natural environments, and cultural landmarks, deepening students’ understanding of their world beyond the classroom.
In addition to these special occasions, we celebrate the everyday wins - the small yet meaningful achievements in classrooms, playgrounds, and extracurricular activities - that build confidence and a positive school culture. Together, all these moments create a dynamic and supportive environment where every student can thrive and shine.

Year 2 Informative Writing
In Term 2, our Year 2 students embarked on an exciting journey into the world of informative writing, with a special focus on space and planets.
Throughout the term, they explored the key attributes of informative writing, honing their research and planning skills. The culmination of their hard work was the creation of informative posters, where they showcased their newfound knowledge and writing abilities.
We are proud of their creativity and dedication in bringing the wonders of the universe to life through their work!
Year 3 Aboriginal History and Australian Megafauna
During this semester in history, Year 3 students have been learning about the first inhabitants of Australia by exploring a range of evidence, including early Aboriginal history and Australian megafauna.
As part of their investigations, students have researched extinct Australian animals and presented their findings in a written report. This learning closely ties in with our informative writing unit, allowing students to build on their research skills while learning to present factual information in a clear and engaging way.
We are incredibly proud of the curiosity and enthusiasm Year 3 has shown throughout this project and look forward to seeing how they continue to apply these skills in the coming weeks.
Year 4 Budding Architects at Work!
Over the past few weeks, our creative Year 4 students have been diving into the world of architecture and mathematics, exploring the concept of area in a hands on project. Each student took on the role of architect, designing their very own house with up to 15 rooms, carefully considering the size and shape of each space.
Using grid paper, students mapped out their floor plans, ensuring every room was either a square or a rectangle. They calculated the dimensions and area of each room in square metres and then determined the total cost of building their house based on the area.
To bring their designs to life, students transferred their floor plans into the Sketches School app. Here, they labelled each room, added doors, windows, and furniture placements, and decided on a scale (such as 1cm = 1m) to make their drawings accurate. They also calculated and recorded the perimeter and area of each room.
Taking their creativity to the next level, students selected one room from their floor plan to build in three dimensions using the Makers Empire app. Their 3D models included annotations showing the length and area, helping them visualise the practical application of their mathematical learning.
This project has not only strengthened students’ understanding of area and perimeter but also allowed them to unleash their imagination as designers, planners and creators. We are so proud of their enthusiasm and the skills they are developing through this interactive and engaging unit.
Year 6 Shark Tank Exhibition
This month, the halls of SINPS were buzzing with creativity, innovations, and a little bit of friendly competition as students across Year 6 participated in our highly anticipated annual Shark Tank project!
Inspired by the popular TV show, our version of Shark Tank challenged students to step into the shoes of entrepreneurs. The task? To invent or innovate a product that solves a real world problem, and pitch it to a panel of “Sharks”. This project required the students to think deeply about what issues they can solve with their products, and how it will actually work. This project took over Term 3, allowing the Year 6 students to show their teamwork and creativity. A team of teachers, and students were to choose if they wanted to invest in a group’s product.
From eco-friendly solutions and gadgets to clever everyday inventions, students impressed everyone with their originality, teamwork and business “professionalism”. Weeks of research, brainstorming, making the prototype, and rehearsing their speeches resulted in an exciting day where ideas came to life!
